Key Takeaways
AI agents have completed more than 2 million transactions on the XRP Ledger.
The AI transaction boom is unlikely to affect XRP's price yet, but billions of transactions could change that.
Motley Fool analyst Dominic Basulto sees XRP approaching $4 by the end of 2027.
The XRP Ledger (XRPL) has reached a new milestone, with AI agents now responsible for more than 2 million transactions on the network.
Data from XRPL-AI puts the cumulative number of agentic transactions at over 2.09 million, as software agents increasingly use XRP and Ripple's RLUSD stablecoin to purchase digital services.
It comes as Motley Fool analyst Dominic Basulto has outlined a bullish case in which XRP could approach $4 by the end of 2027.
The agentic payment market developing on XRPL allows AI software to autonomously buy services and settle invoices using XRP or RLUSD.
According to XRPL-AI figures, AI agents have completed more than 2,094,121 transactions, settling approximately 5,112.89 XRP and 2,281.96 RLUSD.
At an XRP price near $1, that puts the combined settlement value at only around $7,400 — an extremely small amount compared with the number of transactions being processed.
That works out to an average payment of roughly $0.0035 per transaction.
However, the milestone has arrived quickly.
XRPL passed 1 million reported agentic transactions in July before subsequently crossing the 2 million threshold.
Reports surrounding the earlier milestone had already highlighted AI-agent payments as a growing XRPL use case.
Despite the rapidly rising transaction count, the economic value behind AI transactions remains too small to generate substantial direct buying pressure for XRP.
There is also a difference between XRPL adoption and XRP demand.
Transactions conducted using XRP can contribute directly to usage of the native asset.
But XRPL also supports other currencies and tokenized assets, including RLUSD.
Higher network activity does not automatically mean an equivalent increase in demand for XRP.
However, an AI economy operating at a dramatically greater scale could eventually become more relevant to XRP.
The more immediate bullish case for XRP comes from elsewhere.
Motley Fool analyst Dominic Basulto believes 2027 could potentially become XRP's strongest year yet, eyeing a price increase to $4.
One of the biggest is regulatory clarity.
Basulto pointed to the Clarity Act as a key driver to make it easier for banks and other financial institutions to adopt blockchain-based payments.
He also highlighted real-world asset tokenization as an especially important long-term opportunity.
Basulto's $4 argument also relies heavily on XRP's historical volatility.
XRP gained approximately 275% during 2021.
If XRP were to deliver another return of roughly that magnitude from a price slightly above $1, it would approach $4.
He described that target as "well within reach for XRP," noting it had traded as high as $3.65 in 2025.
A move from approximately $1 to $4 would require XRP to roughly quadruple in value.
XRP was trading at around $0.996 on Aug. 17, with a market capitalization of roughly $62.4 billion.
Reclaiming its July 2025 high of approximately $3.65 would require XRP to climb about 266% from current levels.
At today's circulating supply, that would imply a market capitalization of roughly $229 billion.
XRP currently trades around 73% below that peak.
Reaching $4 would require a gain of just over 300% from the current $0.996 price and would value XRP at approximately $251 billion.
That means XRP would need to add roughly $188 billion in market capitalization to reach the $4 target from its current valuation of about $62.4 billion.
Getting back there would likely require substantially stronger demand.
A move toward $4 will heavily depend on whether crypto-market momentum can surge alongside stronger institutional adoption.
